Roles, not names, on this page. Who holds each role, as the papers name them, is on My Campus for campus staff who sign in.
What It Is
The Human Resources Department leads people and culture across the whole organisation, whichever entity employs a person: Startup Lions Assets Kenya, Lions Strength or Learning Lions. It is one of the shared services, with Finance, the IT Center, Communication and the safeguarding committee, and it reports to the Operations Director. The September 2025 structure wrote its head as to be hired; the papers since do not say whether that has happened.

The department and its six duties. It reports to the Operations Director; the Finance Director co-decides every hire and salary; the HR Officer sits on the safeguarding committee. Its own team names are not in the papers.
What It Does
- Recruitment and onboarding. Finding, selecting and settling in staff. A selection committee is formed per post from the people who will work most closely with it, and the two directors co-decide every hire and salary.
- Contracts and performance. Employment contracts across the entities, performance management, and the staff development plans each department needs.
- Policies. The HR policies the September 2025 structure set as the first priority: professional contracts, recruitment, incentives for staff participation.
- Staff welfare. The wellbeing of the people who work on campus, in coordination with the Welfare and Support Team where staff and learner welfare meet.
- Grievances and discipline. The grievance process and disciplinary cases, with the Operations Director, who is co-responsible for disciplinary questions.
- Workforce planning. With every department, who is needed where and when.
Who It Works With
- The Safeguarding, Gender and Quality Committee, on safeguarding and on people processes; the HR Officer sits on the committee for staff protection, discipline and the link to welfare.
- The Welfare and Support Team in the Training Department, where a case touches both staff and learners.
- The Finance Director, who co-decides hiring and salaries with the Operations Director and holds the payroll side of the money.
- Every department, for recruitment, contracts and planning; the Campus Management Blueprint asks HR to help turn the campus hands into trained handymen and to professionalise the branch teams.
