Dira and Darasa

One organisation, one front door. Dira Portal is the campus centre every site hangs off; Darasa Hub is the learning side.

Updated 25 October 2026

Two Names

Dira is Kiswahili for compass, and also for vision or direction. Darasa is Kiswahili for classroom. On 25 October 2026 the campus portal became Dira Portal and the learning site became Darasa Hub.

SiteAddressWhat it is for
Dira Portaldira.learninglions.orgThe compass: the way in to everything, for everyone on campus. It opens with the Lions Ukoo, the clan in one picture, and holds the pages on how the campus is organised, who decides what and where to go
Darasa Hubdarasa.learninglions.orgThe learning side: the training material, one page per session for Mobile LEAP, BootCamp and the Advanced Track; a coach prompt per module to take to the learner's own AI; the submit form and the evaluation queue; My Darasa, the learner's own page; the Career Map; the staff sections

Both are built from one place, the same way: a static site built by Node with no packages, served from Cloudflare Pages, with the same house rules on words, titles and what never appears on a public page. Each organisation keeps its own colours: Startup Lions on the portal, Digital Lions on its own branch, Learning Lions green on everything that teaches.

What Hangs Off the Portal

  1. Darasa Hub. Every session, the learner materials, the prompts, the submit form, My Darasa and the Career Map.
  2. Safety and Welfare. The emergency and helpline numbers, the people to go to on campus, Sauti Yangu and Safeguarding. It is for everyone on campus, so it sits here and on the hub.
  3. The Leo app. Ludwig's app for the Lions, on the phone: to-dos, meetings, roles, AI chat and bonus, with its dashboard.
  4. Digital Lions. The fair trade digital agency on campus: its own page here.
  5. ICT Department. The Support form, which opens a message to the System Admins in your own mail app.
  6. Asha, the learner's record of tasks and badges, once its address is confirmed. More departments follow as they join.

What Goes Where

  1. A session, a worksheet, a take-home card, a prompt, a hand-in: Darasa Hub.
  2. A role in the training team and what it opens on the site: Darasa Hub, behind its Google sign-in. Crew for Mobile LEAP's captain, guides and coaches; Studio and Desk for BootCamp's trainers and the SAs; Evaluation; Admin.
  3. A board, a committee, a department, a campus service, who reports to whom: these pages.
  4. An ICT request: email to request@learninglions.org, which opens a ticket with the SAs. The ICT Department tile writes that email for you. A better window onto the SAs' tracker is wanted later, not now.
  5. The learner's record of tasks and badges: Asha, until the hub writes into it.

Connections {#connections}

Dira is the front door, not a rebuild of anything. The tools the campus already runs on stay where they are, and the portal links to them. A note of which areas should feed each one directly, for much later and to be confirmed:

  1. Asha, the training's platform: the learners' tasks, badges and profiles, the Training Department's meetings, updates and KPIs. The aim is that everyone on campus uses it, with campus-wide KPIs in it.
  2. The Leo app, Ludwig's: the day-to-day running of the campus and the KPI reporting he has people doing there, as well as in Asha.
  3. Odoo, the finance system: finance, stock and payments today; Human Resources first among the areas to feed it directly, and perhaps housing, which may already have started there. The housing and guest register would connect to it.

Sign-in

The portal's pages are public and say nothing a public page may not say: no personal names, no prices, no clock times. Darasa Hub has a Google sign-in for My Darasa, the Career Map and the staff sections. Whether one sign-in will cover both sites is not decided.

Words

The sites keep the same vocabulary: BootCamp says trainee, Mobile LEAP says explorer, the alumni are Lions, the campus NAS is Mufasa and its cloud copy is Google Drive written in full, the System Admins are the SAs. Mobile LEAP's crew words (captain, guide, coach, evaluator) and BootCamp's studio words (trainer, studio, desk) are kept apart.

The two older names, hub and portal, forward to darasa and dira, so an address printed on an earlier card still opens.
